WPC Scores at CES 2025

Last year at CES 2024 WPC introduced Qi2, the next generation standard enabling faster, more energy efficient, and more convenient wireless phone charging. Qi2 took the world by storm. One year later, there are over 1.5 billion devices enabled with Qi2. That’s a very high bar to hit, but here’s what WPC announced at CES 2025 to do it.

• Consumers want Qi2 for Android and they will see more of it in 2025. Both Samsung and Google made statements announcing their intentions for Qi2 devices in 2025. Stay tuned for their product launch announcements.
• We introduced Qi v2.1. A big hit at CES from v2.1 was the moving coil, an innovative in-car charger pioneered and demonstrated by Panasonic Automotive Systems. The moving coil solves a common problem with built-in automotive wireless chargers: when the car makes sharp or sudden moves the phone can move on the charger, reducing the charging speed or interrupting the charging process. The moving coil hunts for the magnetic coil in the phone, moving the charger’s coil to align with the phone for a faster, more efficient charge regardless of the car’s movement. • Ki, the standard for a cordless kitchen where all your kitchen appliances are powered wirelessly without cords or batteries, was released in December and WPC members are beginning to send products through certification testing. Several WPC members demonstrated Ki prototype products such as blenders, toasters, kettles, food processors, air fryers, and juicers. See it demonstrated here.
